Real-world performance tasks are well suited to meeting the educational goals of West Virginia’s College and Career Readiness Standards. They enhance instruction by fostering student DEVELOPMENT OF REAL-WORLD SKILLS that students need to succeed in the future workforce— the essence of the Standards.
Defined Learning provides an online library of CAREER-FOCUSED PERFORMANCE TASKS that ALIGN TO WEST VIRGINIA’S STANDARDS. Each task is based on a situation in a relevant career and provides opportunities for students to deepen understanding and apply their knowledge in real world scenarios. We provide all of the resources teachers need to implement high-quality tasks including grade specific lessons, guidance documents, and robust professional development on Defined Learning and effective teaching strategies for PBL within the classroom.
