New ways of learning and evaluating, driven by the Defined STEM program, are taking place in all grades at Manson Northwest Webster.
“We’re full speed ahead in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) movement,” said elementary Principal Justin Daggett. “Each grade level is implementing Defined STEM performance tasks.”
“The focus is giving the kids an authentic role, and having an authentic audience they present to. Traditional practice is kids write a paper for the teacher and get a grade. With this, you’re still writing a paper, but you are now writing to a real audience about a real topic, and you’re going to get feedback from them.”
